A rare case of late-onset lichenoid photodermatitis after vandetanib therapy

چکیده
INTRODUCTION Vandetanib (ZD6474, Zactima) is a novel inhibitor of multiple tyrosine kinases that has been used for the treatment of various malignancies including medullary thyroid carcinoma. The drug functions primarily via inhibitory effects on vascular endothelial growth factor receptors, epidermal growth factor receptors, and the RET-tyrosine kinase system. As with other targeted chemotherapy agents, several cutaneous side effects including folliculitis, palmar-plantar hyperkeratosis, desquamation, cutaneous hyperpigmentation, and photosensitization have been reported. Photosensitivity, although less commonly reported, was found to make up 37% of cutaneous adverse effects in one case series. Most of these patients were found to exhibit a sunburnlike erythema in sun-exposed regions with subsequent desquamation. However, a small subset of patients exhibited a phenotypically lichenoid photodermatitis and a lymphocytic interface dermatitis with basal vacuolization and keratinocyte apoptosis upon histopathology. Only a handful of cases describing similar lichenoid eruptions after vandetanib use have been reported, most of which developed within a few weeks after exposure. We present a patient with a late-onset lichenoid photodermatitis that began 5months after initiation of vandetanib therapy.

Late-onset Pompe Disease with Elevated Liver Transaminases: A Case Report
Pompe disease or type II glycogen storage disease is a rare autosomal hereditary disease. The prevalence of the disease is about 1 in 40,000 to 1 in 300,000 population. It usually occurs as a result of glycogen accretion following acid maltase deficiency. The current treatment is enzyme replacement therapy, which may slow down the disease progression. Sometimes, the clinical presentation can be...

Chronic graft versus host disease (GVHD) remains the most common late complication of allogenic stem cell transplantation and the most frequent cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. To control this condition, immunosuppressive drugs are usually administered at a high dose and for a long time, which may result in several side effects. 5 patients with clinically and histopathologica...
متن کاملI-30: Late Onset Severe Hemoperitoneum after Transvaginal Oocyte Retrieval: Incidence, Course, and Management
Background Severe ovarian bleeding after transvaginal oocyte retrieval is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication. A late-onset is common and may be associated with an increased risk for ovariectomy. In the present study we analyzed our cases of ovarian bleeding (OB) after oocyte retrieval and compared it with the published cases and studies, including 31 patients. Main outcome mea...
